In these two explanations we conclude that gambling is an act, whereby
participates wager or bet a possession of value from a full consciousness of
risk and through unexpected results, hope for a determined chance to claim
a certain reward. To gamble is to make the conscious striving to get
something of value in exchange for very little effort or without rendering
service in exchanging goods for the value received.

It is often assumed that gambling and risking are the same, and to be
involved in one is to be involved in the other. While it is true that risk is
involved in all gambling, it is not true that gambling is involved in all risk. For
example, in the universe there exists the risk of injury, loss, illness and
death. These risks are not created by us, but rather they are natural results
of coinciding with the elements that revolve around us each day. To buy
insurance against the effects of these risks is not a gamble, because the
policy is an exchange for certain guarantees of security and protection.
Neither the insurer nor the insured seeks something for nothing, but rather
the insurer sells a service or a protection against those elements that are
natural effects upon our daily lives.

Conclusively, we can say that gambling is an act of creating a risk in
order to render a chance of making quick material gain for very little input
at the expense of another. Through the act of gambling, the motive seems
to be to fulfill desires that are going to benefit self-enhanced goals. Any act
that facilitates buying a chance to risk something of value for something
that is of higher esteemed value is a motive behind the plausibility of
gambling.

Questions are often asked, "What about playing bingo? Is it wrong to
buy one lottery ticket just for fun? Is the sponsoring of raffles for school
activities wrong to sponsor? What is wrong with wagering a friendly bet on a
sporting event? Is it wrong to participate in carnival games that promote
wagering? Is it wrong to play cards? Is it wrong to put a nickel in a slot
machine? Is it wrong to play coin-operated video games?"
