QUESTION:

I really enjoyed reading your site. I would like to ask about the "one cup" at
communion. You failed to site the next verse in Matt. 26. Verse 29 clearly
puts the emphasis on the contents of the cup "fruit of the vine". The
emblams are what is important. The unlevened bread...Christ's body...The
fruit of the vine ...Christ's blood. " Do this in rememberance of me..." A
cup(s) does not remind you of His death. I am a member of the church and
do not desire to strain at gnats with you. Would you only sing psalms in
worship or do you use a hymnal with traditional songs like "Amazing Grace"
or "everlasting Arms"  Thanks for your time and your great website!

I am writing you to compliment you on your incredible web site.  It is
awesome!  In my opinion, it is the best web site in our brotherhood- hands
down.  It provides both a scriptural basis for what we believe, but good
lessons to review, and current topics.  You guys have done a great job on
this!!!

My best to the faithful brethren in WV  ~ from a Bro. in Nashville, TN.

Q:

I have been to congregations that have practiced disfellowship of other
members, who were at Church, by not using them in the service because
they did not attend on Wednesday night, and Sunday nights. How do I
know this? Because the brother that was in charge of the service that
Sunday, (He did all of the service by himself, singing, praying, teaching,
waiting on the Table, invitation song, and dismissal) made the statement,
when he was asked by this visitor, why he did not use some of the other
men in the congregation; "They do not come on Wednesday nights and
Sunday nights." The question that I pose is this: " When the Apostle Paul
made the statement; " Forsake not the assembling of yourselves
together," Were the members of the early Church coming together on
Wednesday and Sunday nights? Or has this been an ordinance that has
been placed on the congregations by uninspired men?

Your attention as a Minister of Christ in this matter would be greatly
appreciated. In Him ckcorb [Notice, he left no name only an email 'handle']

Q:  I would like to know if your church offers bible correspondence courses.
 ~Thank you, Kris from Arkansas.

A:   Yes we do!  For those who are not familiar with these, a
correspondence course is simply a form of bible study via postal mail.  The
course we currently offer is called "Know Your Bible" and is a 6 part
course.  We send the first part to you,  it consists of several verses to
study and several questions about those verses.  You fill out the
questions, on your own timetable and mail the course back to us, where
we look it over and then send it back to you along with the next part of the
course until you are finished.  After the last course, if you so desire, we will
have a preacher contact you to answer further questions you may have
and to invite you to attend the nearest faithful congregation in your area!
Contact us with your mailing address if interested!
Q:   Does Matthew 19:9 mean a man or woman in the Christian era may

COMMENT:

I would like to thank the Congregation of Garrett's Creek for having me
preach on February 27,2005.  The services were most enjoyable and
reverent.

I am sorry that so many were ill and could not be with us at the wonderful
dinner that Lonnie and Sherrie Craddock provided.     I would like to have
gotten to know my fellow workers a little better.  Perhaps a better time will
come.

Love and blessings to all,

Brother Sean [Sean McAllister from St. Albans, WV]

REPLY:

Thanks for the e-mail Sean!  We very much enjoyed your preaching and
your company.  We're glad to have you living and working as a full time
preacher in our area.  We have a good relationship with the brethren in St.
Albans and Beckley and we are sure you are an asset to them.  Keep up
the good work, and watch out for those heel spurs! [if you don't know what
that comment means, you should've been there to hear Sean preach :-) ]

With love and appreciation,
The Brethren at Garrett's Creek

Q:

I am really struggling with the marriage and divorce issue. I divorced
years ago for reasons of fornication. Overwhelmed by grief, I fell away
from the faith into addiction and a sinful life style. I since then repented
and am back active in the church. I have not remarried for fear that in my
past I might have come close to doing things that would prevent me from
marrying again. I have been told that God forgives us for past sins once
we repent, but I don't think that alone frees me to marry again. I know
others who have married on that notion, but I can't find anything like that
in the bible. Clarify in scripture for me that if you are able.
